BIRMINGHAM, England, Nov. 25, 2011 – James Lichtenstein of Buffalo Grove, Ill./5 Star Tumbling and Trampoline won the silver medal, and Kristin Day of Reynoldsville, Pa./Uzelac Gymnastics, captured the bronze medal in 17-18 double mini-trampoline finals at the 2011 Trampoline and Tumbling World Age Group Competition held in Birmingham, England, adding to the four medals (two gold, one silver, one bronze) the USA claimed earlier.  The World Age Group Competition continues tomorrow with men's and women's 15-16 trampoline, men's and women's 17-18 tumbling, men's and women's 11-12 double-mini trampoline, and men's and women's 13-14 synchronized trampoline.

In 17-18 double-mini, Lichtenstein posted a 34.000 and 36.400 for his two passes to total 70.400 and clinch the silver medal.  Russia’s Andrey Gladenkov was first at 72.300, and Argentina’s Lucas Adorno was third at 69.000.  For the women, Day earned a 32.500 and a 33.100 for a total 65.600 and the bronze medal.  Russia’s Anastasiya Ignatyeva (67.300) and Brazil’s Carolina Aladim (66.800) finished first and second, respectively.  Kristen Bowman of Elbert, Colo./Artsports -Trampoline World, was fifth at 62.700 (31.800, first pass; 30.900, second pass).

Cassandra Skinner of Livonia, Mich./AGT Flipcity, tied for fifth with Canada’s Tamara O’Brien at 29.900 in women’s 15-16 tumbling.  Great Britain’s Lucie Colebeck was first at 33.000; Febe Demulder of Belgium and Darya Mironova of Russia tied for second at 30.900. Maggie Shea Gallagher of Coto de Caza, Calif./World Elite, was eighth (34.375) in the women’s 13-14 trampoline finals.  France’s Lea Labrousse won the title, with Japan’s Rana Nakano and Yuki Nakamura finishing second and third, respectively.
