ZURICH (November 27, 2022) - In a competition of attrition, the U.S. pair of Addison Fatta and Yul Moldauer reigned supreme Sunday at the 2022 Swiss Cup. The duo clipped runners up Nicola Bartolini and Martina Maggio of Italy by less than a point in a winner-take-all final round at Zurich's Hallenstadion.

Fatta (Wrightsville, Pa./Prestige Gymnastics) and Moldauer (Wellington, Colo./5280 Gymnastics) sat third behind Italy (28.350) and Turkey (27.800) after the opening rotation, which saw both teams from host-nation Switzerland drop. Fatta posted a 13.000 on vault, and Moldauer delivered a 14.650 on parallel bars for a combined 27.650.

Austria, France, Japan and The Netherlands, were eliminated after the second rotation. Fatta's 12.250 on uneven bars and Moldauer's 14.450 on pommel horse brought the U.S. total to 54.350, earning them the second seed for the head-to-head semifinal where they battled the third-seeded Turkish team of Adem Asil and Bilge Tarhan. Italy captured the top seed with a 56.050, and Spain, represented by Laura Casabuena and Joel Plata, advanced in the fourth spot with a 54.150.

In the semifinal round, Fatta and Moldauer notched scores of 12.500 and 14.350, respectively, on floor exercise, edging Turkey 26.850-24.550. Meanwhile, the Italians (27.800) surged past Spain (26.525) to secure their spot in the final.

With the title on the line, Fatta and Moldauer showed improved routines on uneven bars (13.150) and parallel bars (14.750), nosing the Italian duo (27.750) for the crown with a combined 27.900. Maggio earned a 13.200 on balance beam, and Bartolini garnered a 14.550 on vault. Turkey outpaced Spain 27.550-27.300 to claim bronze.
