SOFIA, Bulgaria (November 25, 2022) – West Fowler and Skye Hawk split the 13-14-year-old double mini trampoline titles and Kennedi Roberts added women’s division bronze Friday at the 2022 T&T World Age Group Competitions in Sofia, Bulgaria. U.S. gymnasts have collected six medals across three days of competition at Arena Sofia with six titles yet to be decided.

After qualifying one-two (48.900, 48.600), Hawk (Allen, Texas/Eagle Gymnastics Academy) and Roberts (North Richland Hills, Texas/Southlake Gymnastics Academy) posted scores of 24.100 and 24.000 in the opening round of the final to advance to a second, winner-take-all pass. Hawk clinched top honors with a 24.900 on her second go, while Roberts pocketed bronze with a 20.200. Chandler Graham (Amarillo, Texas/All American Gymnastics) notched the day’s third-highest qualifying score of 46.500 but was kept out of the final by the two-gymnast-per-country limit. Canada’s Brooklyn Lee-McMeeken (24.000) finished second. Lexie Danko (Trabuco Canyon, Calif./World Elite Gymnastics) was 19th (42.000).

Fowler (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Panhandle Perfection Gymnastics), who qualified third (50.100), paced the men’s 13-14 double mini field on both finals passes with scores of 25.700 and 25.200. Great Britain’s Frederick Leigh-Warren and James Keenan took silver (25.000) and bronze (24.800). Nate Erkert (Wildwood, Mo./Elite Trampoline Academy) advanced to the final in second with a 50.800 but ultimately landed fifth (24.700). Sebastian Ramberg (Laguna Niguel, Calif./World Elite Gymnastics) was 25th (42.100), and Mick Seyler (Flower Mound, Texas/Southlake Gymnastics Academy) slotted in 28th (26.200) after completing only one qualifying pass.

Team USA was also represented by the maximum number of finalists in men’s and women’s 15-16 tumbling. Brooklyn Jolley (West Haven, Utah/Northern Star Bounder) just missed the podium in the women’s division. She advanced to the medal round with a 23.700 on her first finals pass but finished fourth (21.900). Great Britain’s Naana Oppon reigned with a second-pass score of 23.800. Amelia Gasper (Delavan, Ill./Central Illinois Gymnastics Academy) captured a top-five finish, earning a 22.700 in the final. London Hunt (Spring, Texas/World Champions Centre) and Rosalie Thongphay (San Tan Valley, Ariz./USA Youth Fitness Center) were 13th (43.300) and 20th (40.900), respectively.

On the men’s side, Xavier Harper (Oak Ridge, Tenn./Premier Athletics Knoxville) and ZaQuae Carter (Harlem, N.Y./Cavu Trampoline and Tumbling) advanced to the final where they finished sixth (24.600) and seventh (23.900). Micah Miner (Glen Carbon, Ill./Kris Power Tumbling) was 21st (39.600), and Amare Walker (Rockaway, N.J./Cavu Trampoline and Tumbling) landed 25th (38.700). Great Britain’s Jake Taddei topped the podium with a second-pass 26.200.

In men’s 17-21 individual trampoline, Ryan Maccagnan (Colorado Springs, Colo./Stars Gymnastics) and Jace Williams (Cave Creek, Ariz./North Valley Gymnastics) notched fourth and fifth, respectively. After advancing to the final in fourth (56.460), Maccagnan retained that position with a 56.360, while Williams climbed three spots from his 8th-place qualification with a 55.720. Joey Isenberg (Martinsburg, W.Va./Elite Trampoline Academy) took 16th (54.050), and Nick Francken (Pleasanton, Calif./Elite Trampoline Academy) was 42nd (51.700). Japan’s Terumichi Bungo led the way with a 58.450.

Ava Hernando (Holmdel, N.J./Elite Trampoline Academy) was fifth in the women’s 17-21 category. She advanced to the final in the sixth position (51.610), jumping a spot with an improved 52.020 in the medal round. Japan’s Saki Tanaka topped the scoresheet with a 53.590. Avery Kroeker finished 11th with a 50.930, and McKenzie Petrich was 30th (47.490).

U.S. pairs were also in action in 15-16-year-old synchronized trampoline. The duos of Will Cockrill (Plano, Texas/Flip Factory) and Van Larson (Phoenix, Ariz./Aspire Kids Sports Center) and Harper and Miner were 17th (40.340) and 19th (30.610), respectively, in the men’s division. Huseyn Abbasov and Magsud Mahsudov of Azerbaijan captured gold with a 48.630.

Leah Edelman (Holmdel, N.J./Elite Trampoline Academy) and Leah Garafalo (Cream Ridge, N.J./Elite Trampoline Academy) wound up 17th in women’s synchro with a 36.220. Ava DeHanes (Holmdel, N.J./Elite Trampoline Academy) and Rayleigh Huette (Weimar, Texas/K&L Tumbletown) were 23rd (9.790). Japan’s Momo Sawada and Yume Yokoishi (46.160) claimed the title.

The 2022 T&T World Age Group Competitions will conclude Saturday with the 13-14 tumbling, 15-16 double mini and 17-21 synchro titles up for grabs.
