Parkour is the competitive practice of traversing an area from one point to another in the most efficient way possible. The parkour competition held during this year's World Games will feature freestyle and speed events. Freestyle parkour highlights the athletes' creativity and talent in their unique way of navigating the provided course, while speed focuses on how quickly the course can be completed.
The World Games feature various sports competitions over an 11-day period with athletes representing countries from all over the globe in disciplines that are not currently included in the Olympic program. The event is held the year following the Summer Olympic Games and will celebrate its 40th anniversary next month. The World Games will run from July 7-17; fans can catch Chan and the parkour events July 10-11 at Sloss Furnaces, a local National Historic Landmark and industrial museum, which will serve as the venue for parkour.
