Summary Description
The human resource manager is directly responsible for the overall development, administration, coordination and execution of the human resource function for USA Gymnastics. The position will initially report to the interim Chief of Staff pending the addition of senior operational and administrative leadership.


  • Develop, implement and administer recruiting, hiring and on-boarding processes for the organization
  • Develop, recommend and implement personnel policies and procedures; prepare and maintain the employee handbook; perform benefits administration
  • Implement communications plan to ensure timely and accurate communications with all employees regarding benefit plans, and updates or changes to personnel
  • Develop and implement a structured annual performance review program
  • Develop and implement a compensation evaluation and review program, annually review organization compensation, provide compensation philosophy recommendations to management
  • Establish and maintain department records and reports, including organizational charts and employee directory
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws
  • Manage human resources budget to plan; support annual budgeting process by providing timely and accurate information and budgetary requirements for the human resource function including, but not limited to, benefits renewals, insurance, compliance, etc.
  • Lead the organization in the continual development of a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, ethics, and the commitment to servicing stakeholders, including athletes, membership and our communities
Requirements and Competencies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present to the board of directors, employees, and other audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with all functional units of an organization, including finance, legal, and program leaders
  • Excellent organizational skills; history of delivering quality work on time and within budget
  • Cultural and global awareness
  • Ability to pro-actively problem solve
  • Accountable and willing to make decisions
  • Ability to maintain a positive “can do” attitude under stress
  • Comfortable advising all levels of an organization, including on challenging issues such as performance, discipline, and compensation and benefits
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or human resource management, or related field required
  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience, including demonstrated generalist experience in recruiting, compensation and benefits, and human resource administration
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential preferred
