The chief programs officer provides the leadership, management and vision to ensure that USA Gymnastics program disciplines and events have the administrative and reporting procedures, people, and systems in place to effectively grow the organization’s programs and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency of those programs. This position accomplishes this through a respectful, constructive and energetic style guided by the objectives of the company. This position will lead USA Gymnastics efforts in the promotion of a safe, healthy training environment for all participants, and will promote compliance with and enforcement of applicable USA Gymnastics rules, policies, and safe sport provisions in the gymnastics community.

Essential Functions

  • Motivate and lead a high-performance management team across all programs and events
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and management to a service organization that mirrors the mission and core values of the company
  • Help the organization achieve and surpass all goals and objectives
  • Provide timely, accurate and complete reports on the operations of the programs for each of the disciplines
  • Spearhead the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes
  • Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement plans for the systems, processes, and personnel to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of the company
  • Facilitate developmental programs for each discipline
  • Coordinate the High Performance team
  • Oversee compliance with FIG rules and regulations
  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company
  • Execute contracts with LOCs and oversee all settlements at the conclusion of events
  • Develop and implement premier events and special projects nationwide, including international events
  • Direct fiduciary responsibility for a multi-million-dollar annual program budget
  • Assist in sponsor and marketing activities as needed
  • Create new opportunities to display the various disciplines
  • Coordinate all technical aspects of the events including broadcasts
  • Oversee activation and ancillary activities associated with premier events
  • Oversea management of relationships with host venues, CVBs, and sports commissions, including pre- and post-event hospitality

This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work. Domestic and international travel is expected and required.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least seven years professional experience in sport or related industry
Preferred Education and Experience
  • At least five years in a senior management or leadership role, including business or financial experience
  • Previous experience in gymnastics as an athlete, coach, and/or administrator
