Nacey wins double-mini silver at 2017 World T&T Championships

SOFIA, Bulgaria, Nov. 11, 2017 – Austin Nacey of Braidwood, Ill./TwistStars Tumbling and Trampoline, won the men’s double mini-trampoline silver medal today at the 2017 World Trampoline and Tumbling Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria. Competition concludes tomorrow in Sofia with the trampoline semi-finals, women’s double-mini final, men’s tumbling final, and the trampoline finals at 6:30 a.m. ET. A night after helping his team to the double-mini silver medal, Nacey added the silver in the individual final. Nacey was the bronze medalist in double-mini at the 2014 Worlds and today’s medal brings his career total to six World medals.


Russia’s Mikhail Zalomin took the gold medal with a 78.800, just ahead of Nacey’s 78.300 total. Russia’s Aleksandr Odintsov was the bronze medalist, totaling 76.900. Nacey’s first pass was a full-Rudi to a half-in tucked Triffus. He nearly stuck the landing to score 38.400. In his second pass, Nacey performed a tucked Triffus to a quadruple back tuck and stuck the landing. He earned a 39.900.

In the men’s tumbling team final, Team USA placed fourth. Great Britain took the gold with a 112.500, followed by China (111.300) and Denmark (101.500). Alex Renkert, Columbus, Ohio/Integrity Athletics, opened for the U.S. with a 35.700, tumbling two full-twisting double layouts and dismounting with a tucked double-double. Brandon Krzynefski, Centreville, Va./Capital Gymnastics National Training Center, added a 30.200. Nacey was last to go for the U.S., and tumbled two double layouts to a double back. He added a 34.200, giving the U.S. a total team score of 100.100.
