Elijah, a Make-the-Wish recipient from Akron, Ohio, had his wish come true when he trained with the U.S. Men’s National Gymnastics Team, including the 2016 Olympic Team, during the national team training camp at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
USA Gymnastics was saddened to learn about the bus accident that occurred outside of Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia. According to existing reports, 10 athletes and two coaches in the 34-person delegation of acrobatic gymnasts and coaches were killed, with many more injured.
The November women’s national team camp concluded Sunday at the USA Gymnastics National Team Training Center at the Karolyi Ranch, an official U.S. Olympic Training Site.
At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the USA’s gymnasts won a total of 12 medals (four gold, six silver, and two bronze), the biggest Olympic medal haul for USA Gymnastics since 1984 and the most gymnastics medals earned by USA at a non-boycotted Olympic Games.
