Gymnast of the Week awards are given by conference offices and the College Gymnastics Association.

NCAA Rookie of the Week
Ian Lasic-Ellis - Stanford
Lasic-Ellis took second on high bar at the Pac-12 Invite last week, turning in a career-best 13.550. He also earned a pair of third-place finishes on still rings (13.850) and parallel bars (career-high 14.300). The native of Dover, Mass. ranks fifth in the nation on parallel bars with an average of 14.050 and eighth nationally on still rings at 13.867 – both good for second among rookies. He also owns the seventh-best all-around average in the nation at 79.300. The weekly honor is the first of Lasic-Ellis' career.

NCAA Specialist of the Week
Blake Sun - Stanford
Sun, who won the parallel bars event title with a national-best 15.700 at the Stanford Open, followed up his performance last week with a 15.300 to earn a share of the event title. He would add an event title on pommel horse after registering a score of 13.800. Sun is the top parallel bars gymnast in the nation with an average score of 15.267. He is one of only two gymnasts to go 15+ in the event this year, joining teammate Curran Phillips. The selection is the third of Sun's career after earning Specialist of the Week on January 28, 2020 and February 2, 2022.

Michael Jaroh - Penn State
  • Captured event titles on the rings (14.35) and high bar (13.85) while placing fourth on the parallel bars (13.60) in PSU's conference meet at Nebraska on Feb. 5
  • Posted a personal-best score on the rings while tying for the nation's best score in the event this year
  • Collects his second career Big Ten Gymnast of the Week award
Freshman of the Week
Chris Hiser - Nebraska
  • Finished third on the floor (13.85) to help Nebraska earn a win over visiting Penn State on Feb. 5
  • Registered a career-high score on the floor for the third consecutive meet
  • Earns his second consecutive Freshman of the Week award

Gymnast of the Week
Isaiah Drake – Navy
Competing for a Star for the first time in his career against service academy rival Army, freshman Isaiah Drake relished the added pressure and dominated all meet with an all-around score of 82.15 and first place results on the floor exercise (14.0), parallel bars (13.55) and high bar (13.3). That all-around score is the second-highest by any collegiate gymnast this season. Additionally, he was second on both the pommel horse (13.7) and vault (14.55), and fifth on the rings (13.05).

Specialist of the Week
Connor Van Loo – Springfield
Van Loo turned in a pair of high-level results on Saturday during the Army-Navy Star Meet. The junior nailed his vault with a 9.7 execution score and a 0.1 bonus for a total score of 14.6. That effort is the ninth-highest by any collegiate gymnast in 2022 and best by an ECAC gymnast. Additionally, he placed third on the floor exercise with a 13.4 score.

Rookie of the Week
Gabriel Almeida – Army
Almeida continued leading the Black Knights on pommel horse, posting a team-best 12.7 and placing fourth on the event.

Curran Phillips - Stanford
Stanford senior Curran Phillips (Naperville, IL) recorded a national-best 15.200 to win the vault title before registering a career-high 15.300 on parallel bars to earn a share of the event crown, helping the No. 1 Cardinal to a national-high 412.150 total and a win at the Pac-12 Invite (Feb. 4). Phillips became the first gymnast this year to go 15+ on vault, as the Cardinal managed a national-best 72.450 in the event. Stanford also managed an NCAA-Best 71.850 team score on parallel bars. This is the first career MPSF weekly award for Phillips.
