Collected three-first place finishes and a third-place finish last weekend against Arizona State

Posted an additional third-place finish on the pommel horse (13.500)
Set new career bests and team season high scores on the vault, parallel bars and high bar
Collects his second career Big Ten Gymnast of the Week award and first since Feb. 12, 2018

David Pochinka - Minnesota
Earned three podium finishes against Arizona State last weekend
Collected second place on the pommel horse (13.550) and rings (13.400), along with third place on the high bar (13.050)
Set career bests on the pommel horse and high bar
Earns his first Big Ten Freshman of the Week award

Gymnast of the Week
Stephen Lewis – Springfield
Lewis won the all-around title in Springfield’s tri-meet last weekend against Pen State and ECAC rival University of Illinois – Chicago. The junior took that all-around crown with a total score of 75.85. His afternoon was highlighted by winning vault with a score of 14.25. Lewis also placed fifth on the parallel bars with a score 12.65 and sixth on the horizontal bar with a score of 12.1.

Specialist of the Week
Paul Burney – Illinois-Chicago
Burney had a technically proficient high bar routine as he anchored the Flames high bar roster. He took fourth place on the event with a score of 12.6 after he earned a stick bonus. That score is the highest mark for any Flame athlete this season.

Rookie of the Week
Danny Clark – Navy
Clark competed in just one lone event for the Midshipmen last weekend as they battled at the 2019 All-Academy Championship. His lone event was the pommel horse in where he went on to score a 13.2 for the squad. The mark is his second-best score of the season and he currently ranks No. 25 in the nation with a National Qualifying Average of 13.317.

Gymnast of the Week
Darren Wong - California
Freshman Darren Wong (Vancouver, BC, Canada) recorded a career-high 81.350 to win the all-around competition and lead the Bears to a season-high 404.000 team score against No. 2 Stanford (Feb. 9), their first 400-plus total since 2017. Wong led Cal in its most troublesome event on pommel horse, tying his career mark of 14.450 to win that title. He added results of 14.000 on both floor and vault to place third and tie for fourth, respectively. This is Wong’s first career MPSF award.
