Acro Judges and Coaches Updates

April 6, 2010 - Clarification of National Development Plan

  1. National Team Athletes (JNT or SNT) are required to receive qualifying scores at either State or Regional Championships to compete at the “National Elite Qualifier”. If JNT or SNT members choose to not attend both locals and State Championships, they must attend Regionals.

  2. World Team Trials selection requires that pair/groups must receive two local meet State qualifying scores at the level they wish to be selected. Results at the Open Slot Selection Camp in December may be used to satisfy a local meet requirement.

    1. Junior 11-16 - 40.0
    2. Elite Jr/Sr - 61.0

  3. Please note that the Acrobatic Gymnastics Program Rules and Policies allows coaches to petition or use international competition scores to qualify to the next level of competition. See page 35 of R & P.

“A pair/group competing in an international competition may petition scores to qualify to the next level of competition if the missed qualifying competition takes place within two (2) weeks of return or less than one (1) week of the departure to the international competition. The petition must be submitted to the National Office one week prior to the qualifying meet. A pair-group participating in an official USA delegation automatically qualifies to the next level of competition if the petition is submitted per the one week deadline”.

February 18, 2010 – ACTR site check: To alleviate any registration issues just prior to a meet deadline, we encourage all coaches/clubs to create rosters and verify all information is correct.

January 29, 2010 – Level 4 Compulsory Routines
Level 4 routines must be performed to music. Compulsory music is required. Three choices of music are provided per the following events: Women's Pair/Women's Group, Men's Pair/Men's Group and Mixed Pair. Compulsory routines and music are available on the Acrobatic Gymnastics web site under “Junior Olympic Program”

November 17, 2009 – 2010 Acrobatic Gymnastics National Plan:
The 2010 Acro National Plan is available. Click here to download.

The Acrobatic Gymnastics National Plan is a top-level document to provide vision, direction and call-to-action for the various committees and sub-committees in the discipline of acrobatic gymnastics and to achieve three main goals:

  1. Continue success in international competition
  2. Promote and develop acrobatic gymnastics at the grassroots and national level through use of the athlete development pipeline
  3. Increase educational initiatives and opportunities for professional members including judges and coaches
Section I is the Acrobatic Gymnastics Program Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan line-items each goal of the National Plan and the means of completion. To disseminate the various initiatives and tasks, each of the National Committee Chairmen, in coordination with the respective sub-committees, created a National Committee Work Plan. The National Committee Work Plan line-items each national committee, the respective goals of the committee and initiatives as it pertains to the Strategic Plan.

Section II is the National Development Plan. The National Development Plan is the process by which pair-groups compete, qualify and prove readiness to compete at the next level of national or international competition respective to the competitive program (i.e. Pre-team, Junior Olympic or Elite Program). A flow-chart illustrates the series of events for each competitive program. The final portion of Section II includes three excel spreadsheets including each level of the program, a list of key events in the respective year and eligibility of pair-groups to compete per the Rules and Policies.

Section III is the National Team Plan. The National Team Plan allows coaches to set short-term and long-term goals for each pair-group by documenting key events in the respective year and goals of Team USA.

November 4, 2009 – Level Mobility – Skills Testing:
The Program Committee recommends requiring the Junior Olympic Committee Chairman or Elite Committee Chairman serve as the lead evaluator for skills testing including Level 9 to Level 10 and Level 10 to Junior Elite. The two remaining skill evaluators are per the Rules and Policies for Skills Testing, page 23. Skills testing may take place at any point throughout the season. The new proposal also requires all skills testing to be video recorded. The video is to be submitted to the National Office including all required paperwork. The following rule is effective immediately.

Sept. 28, 2009 – National Team & Junior Olympic National Team Coaches,
The PC recommends, to Steve Penny, allowing JONT/NT members, whom are out-of-age for 2010 events and in the same partnerships, attend the British Open Tournament in Great Britain from November 28-29. A one-time exception is being made to allow easier transition as the Acro National Team Plan is being finalized at the Nevada meetings in October.

Eligible pair-groups are those that do not meet FIG Age Group ages for the 2010 season; however, will participate in the British Open Tournament to gain experience in preparation for 2011 and beyond international competitions. Pair-groups must be within the same partnership to attend this event. Club teams must be approved and gain permission from the National Office before attending this event. Each personal coach is responsible for making arrangements on their own behalf. All entries are to be submitted directly to the National Competition Organizer, Sandra Sargeant, via email no later than Friday, October 30, 2009. Sa.sargeant@btinternet.com.

You may direct all questions to the National Office.
